"Veterans Day is a chance to honor the men and women who have served our country, and it means a little extra to us here at Forks of the River Taproom." That's how Headwaters Outfitters opens its Veterans Day event listing, and the next line explains why. The taproom says it has "veterans who are part of our regular taproom crew and community."
That listing kicks off about four weeks of Rosman gatherings. If you line the calendar up from November 11 to December 4, each event comes with an ask. One wants a $10 toy. One wants a casserole plus your own fork. One sends a dollar from every beer to a veterans' charity. One fills a riverbank with local makers' tables.
| Date | Event | Where | What you bring | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wed, Nov 11 | Veterans Day Event | Forks of the River Taproom | Your draft order, a dart team | $1 per pour to Blue Ridge Honor Flight |
| Sat, Nov 14 | 5th Annual Transylvania County Toy Run | Rosman Town Hall | $10 or a new $10 toy | Sharing House for Children's Christmas |
| Fri, Nov 20 | Friendsgiving Potluck | Forks of the River Taproom | A dish, plus your own plate and utensils | The shared table |
| Fri, Dec 4 | Appalachian Santa Night & Market | Headwaters Outfitters | Your holiday shopping list | Local artisans and makers |
Wednesday the 11th Runs All Day at the Forks
The Veterans Day event at Forks of the River Taproom, 25 Parkway Road, goes from noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11. Admission is free. The fundraising is built into the bar tab: all day long, $1 from every draft pour goes to Blue Ridge Honor Flight. The taproom describes the group as one that helps veterans travel to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials built in their honor.
Plan your arrival around this schedule:
- Noon to 8 p.m.: $1 from every draft pour goes to Blue Ridge Honor Flight
- 3 to 7 p.m.: hot dog plates, free for veterans and donation-based for everyone else
- 4 to 6 p.m.: live music on the porch with Cody Hale
- Dart tournament: $100 to the winning team, and teams must pre-register at the taproom
The dart tournament is the one item that takes planning ahead. The listing says space is limited and teams have to sign up in person at the taproom, so if you have a team in mind, stop by and register before the day of.
Three Days Later, Town Hall Becomes the Starting Line
On Saturday, November 14, the 5th Annual Transylvania County Toy Run starts at Rosman Town Hall. According to the WGCR Carolina Calendar, lineup begins at 10 a.m. and the ride leaves at 12:30 p.m. Every kind of vehicle is welcome. Entry is $10, or you can bring a new $10 toy, and all proceeds go to the Sharing House for Children's Christmas.
The hosts are Blue Ridge RC, Toxaway Grading and Jennings Builders Supply, all names you'll recognize from around the county. Organizers post updates on the event's Facebook page, 5th Annual Transylvania County Toy Run, and take questions at [email protected].
The toy option makes this an easy event to join even without a motorcycle or a truck you want to show off. The $10 counts the same either way, and it all ends up under a child's tree.
If you haven't been near Town Hall lately, check the setting before you go. The Town of Rosman has posted a notice that the Champion Park Pool area and the grounds around Town Hall are under construction for a new playground and other upgrades. The notice is dated August 26, 2026, and says the work will last "for the next few months." The Town asks people to watch for heavy equipment and stay out of the work area, so plan where you park and stand at lineup with that in mind.
The Potluck Where You Bring Your Own Plate
The Friendsgiving Potluck at Forks of the River Taproom runs 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 20, and it's free. The way it works is right there in the listing: bring a dish, and bring your own plate and utensils.
It's the most direct version of the pattern. Everything on the table that night comes from somebody's kitchen in town, and the reusable plate rule keeps cleanup easy and the trash can mostly empty. If you're new to the area, or your own Thanksgiving is happening somewhere else this year, it's an easy, low-key way to share a meal with neighbors six days before the holiday.
Santa Night Sends Its Money to Local Makers
The Appalachian Santa Night & Market is set for Friday, December 4, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Headwaters Outfitters, 25 Parkway Road. Admission is free. Headwaters Outfitters' event page describes an outdoor market of local artisans and makers, photos with Appalachian Santa, kids' holiday activities, a chance to meet the llamas, and food from a local food truck.
Back Dirt Road Band plays acoustic music. Headwaters describes them as an Upstate South Carolina duo known for heartfelt originals and crowd-favorite covers. The taproom will be pouring, and Headwaters says vendor spotlights and more details are coming.
Here the ask is your shopping list. In November, the money from these gatherings went to a veterans' travel charity and a children's Christmas drive. On December 4, it goes to whoever made the candles, carvings and jars on those tables. If you were going to buy gifts anyway, bring cash and your list and do part of it by the river.
The Ask That Runs Past December
One request on the Rosman calendar doesn't end with the holidays. The Transylvania Times reported that the Rotary Club of Brevard and Isaac Homes opened the TenTwentySix Youth Hub at 1026 Pickens Highway in Rosman. It's a space for teens ages 14 to 18, open to high school students and homeschoolers, with after-school hours from 3 to 7 p.m. every day.
The hub runs on the same bring-something idea. According to the Times, membership costs $10 a week, or teens can earn it with two hours of chores. The hub also wants adult volunteers, who must pass a background check, and it's especially looking for people with soccer and lacrosse experience to help start new activities. The Times also reported that organizers are looking for 10 youth leaders to help shape where the hub goes long term.
The Times reported that with donated time included, the project's value came close to $1 million. Organizers told the paper they want the hub to serve the community for decades, with volunteers at the center of how it grows. If an evening at the taproom gets you thinking about giving a few hours a week instead, contact [email protected].
The Weekend After Santa Night
The day after the Rosman market, Brevard holds its Miracle on Main Street Parade & Light Up the Night on Saturday, December 5, 2026. Explore Brevard lists a 3 p.m. parade, then the downtown tree lighting, performances, ice skating, hayrides, food trucks and a makers market. That makes two maker markets on back-to-back nights, if you want to split up your shopping.
Rosman's own Christmas parade has a familiar route. Last year, Explore Brevard listed it for Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2 to 5 p.m. It started at Rosman Community Park and looped through town.
If you'd like a quieter break between all these gatherings, Gorges State Park is just down US 64. The park's posted hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in November and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in December. It's closed on Christmas Day and open on other holidays.
We'll be adding to the Toy Run toy pile and filling a plate at the taproom this month.
